Having a child is no walk in the park. It's not easy being on constant lookout for your kid's safety, happiness, and health. No one can do it all, and accidents are bound to happen. Kids will be kids, meaning they will get bruises, scrapes, and scabs. They'll get hurt, they'll run down hills and fall into places they shouldn't. It's definitely normal and all part of growing up and being a kid. These are life lessons that carry on until adulthood. A little injury or broken bone are quintessential experiences as children. Most people break some sort of bone, and honestly it builds character.

I broke my wrist when I was 7-years-old, I also sprained it a few years later. I had a twisted ankle for a while, a fractured toe, and a muscle tear. It's all part of being adventurous.

In the story below, the protagonist's 5-year-old gets himself injured when they're on a hike. It was a complete accident, and he ended up needing stitches. Her ex-husband comes at her later that he's going to use this as evidence that she's a terrible mother, and try to get full custody of him.

It's good that the protagonist seems to have her head on straight. She's not letting him actually interfere with her parenting, or ability to be a good mother. He sounds like a really toxic man, and it's probably a good thing that they're divorcing!

This man is completely insane. You can't get full custody of your child just because they were playing outside and had to get stitches. It's a normal part of growing up, most kids have broken bones or stitches at some point in their lives. This man is just weird.
